I AM AN ACTIVIST

In March 2018, I participated in the National School Walkout against Gun Violence. We ended up on the cover of the local newspaper!

I have attended the Women's March in Los Angeles every January since 2017. Here I am displaying one side of my sign at the march in January 2019. The sign reads "Hands off Roe!" referring to Roe v. Wade. The reverse side, not pictured, read "This Black Mirror episode sucks."

This photo shows me (center) and a few of my peers February of 2018 in the Capitol Building outside our Congressman Brad Sherman's office. This was the culmination of L'Taken, an advocacy trip to Washington D.C. through the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, during which I had the opportunity to hear from various speakers and participate in workshops where I learned more about specific issues of my choosing. My chosen workshops were on women's reproductive rights and gun control. At the end of the trip, we got the chance to lobby Congress about the issues most important to us. I spoke to my representative about women's reproductive rights, and brought his attention to the "EACH Woman" ((Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance) Act, a bill he had not previously heard of that he now co-sponsors.

Here I am pictured with some other activists at my high school in April 2018. We are holding voter registration forms and our shirts read "#ENOUGH" in orange which is the gun violence prevention slogan and color.

My senior year, my peers nominated, voted, and ultimately awarded me the senior superlative of "Student Activist" in the yearbook.
What this means for my Identity:
-
I am Passionate
-
I am Opinionated
-
I am not afraid to make my voice heard.
